Not what was promisedRated:![]() by Bob from US Written 5 years ago | We wanted to go to Yelapa after a friend told us about it. I booked a room at Lay Joya de Yelapa based on the online info on "Vallarta Online. When we arrived we found that they did not have our reservation, were full and could only offer us an ugly, dirty, spare concrete room above the actual hotel. They did reduce the price to $50 a night, so we took it since we did not know our way around. As it turned out there were no other rooms available at the other hotel on the beach (Lagunita). BTW, La Joya is about 80 yards off of the beach behind the horse stables. You have to walk through the “yard” of some peasants house to get to the beach.
Though we loved Yelapa and are fine with less than top notch accomodations, this hotel did not live up to its online promise. |
Great concept, extremely poor executionRated:![]() by Melanie from USA Written 5 years ago | We took our 5 teen age children here last year.
We knew it would be primative but expected it to at least be clean. The sheets were not fresh and the walls were covered in Iguana feces. The
netting over the beds were torn therefore defeating the purpose of even being there.
We could have accepted the "deflated excitement" on the conditions of the cabins if, we could have spent the day on the beach but it was covered with so many jellyfish and insects that we couldn't even walk on it without shoes, much less lay out or swim. Now what's there to do? We didn't want to stay on the beach nor did we want to hang out in our cabins. Thankfully we stayed only one night! In short, if you are someone that just wants to hide from the rest of the world, this place is probably ideal for you! |
