On the Road to Puerto Vallarta - Tepic

There is a stretch of highway between Puerto Vallarta and Bucerías with a growing amount of commercial activity on both sides of the highway. Due to the rapid urban growth in the region, there are many construction-related businesses, but there is also an increasing abundance of shopping, dining and fun.



Sea Life Park

This aquatic park offers a slow-flowing river to float in, a children’s wading area, bird and sea lion performances and their main attraction: an interactive swim with dolphins. With a paid adult admission, children between the ages of 1 and 5 can experience a free “encounter” to safely interact with these intelligent mammals. If you can provide official identification proving Puerto Vallarta or Bahía de Banderas residency, you may purchase their all-inclusive package, which includes use of all swimming pools, water slides, meals and more for $225 pesos per adult and $175 pesos for minors. Plaza Parabien

In this recently opened strip mall, the shops surround the gas station located at the second entrance to Nuevo Vallarta. Among enterprises already open are Tower Pizza, which offers traditional slices; Imprecopy, which offers printing and copying services; City Médica, a bilingual medical clinic; Hola Patio, offering outdoor furniture sales; Cantón…es, a Chinese restaurant; Hashira, which offers a variety of sushi; Café Luna, production and sale of coffee; and La Plancha, which offers laundry and ironing services. Located on the Av. Tepic Sur 1508, second access to Nuevo Vallarta.


Marlin de Tepic

This is a branch of the famous seafood restaurant headquartered in the Nayarit capitol. In addition to their fish fillets, their menu includes fine steak cuts such as rib eye. As a starter, we recommend their taco gobernador for $19 pesos, which includes grilled shrimp, cheese and a corn tortilla. The house specialty is their zarandeado fish, which is sold at $190 pesos per kilo. One original dish is their piña cantamar, a pineapple filled with seafood and garnished with cheese. Located on Av. Ruta 200 Bar & Grill

Located above the Choppers motorcycle showroom, its ambiance makes it seem like a biker bar; however, they are open to the public and all those who enjoy a good draft beer. To go with your beer, you may order a hamburger and fries for $50 pesos. From Wednesday to Saturday, they offer live rock music between 10:00 pm and 1:30 am and on Wednesdays and Thursdays beer costs $10 pesos from 7:00 pm to 2:00 am. Find it in Av. Oficina de Tránsito Municipal

These facilities belong to the County of Bahía de Bandera, and this is where you would go if you were get a traffic ticket or if your vehicle is towed from any stretch of the highway covered in this article. In this same facility is the substation where the officers are dispatched from in the event of an accident or a breakdown that is blocking traffic. They offer 24-hour service and have ten patrol units available. Av. San José 1 corner at Av. Tepic, crucero de Mezcales, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 2:00pm. Tel (329) 296-5229.


Plaza del Faro

This plaza holds businesses offering hardware, wood, masonry, furniture, home decor, air conditioners, waterproofing, silicone, sealers, kitchens, heavy equipment rentals and other construction-related supplies. The anchor store is Amutio, a leader in the hardware business for years. A rare service offered in this plaza is self-storage, mini-warehouses to store whatever you desire, including cars, boats and motor homes. Av. Mega Comercial Mexicana

This superstore, which honors its name, is already a tradition among Mexican families. Its isles are divided into several departments, including furniture, house wares, electronics, hardware, toys, office supplies, perfumes, pharmacy, sporting goods, infants, girls, boys, women, men, a full supermarket including frozen foods, meats, fish and seafood, deli, breads, fruits and vegetables, among others. They offer a plasticomer credit card for purchases that offers special promotions, such as no interest for 13, 18 and 24 months. Av. Tepic 1297, Fracc. Flamingos Club Residencial.
