A Touch of World Classby Scotty McDonell from USAWritten 2 years ago | I could start with my 25 years of fine dining restaurant experience as a Maitr'D, Captain and Manager or I could rave about the four and five star establishments The River Cafe can be compared to here in The States, but I won't. In a word, this place is impressive. The presentation of the plates and the attention to detail in food, drink and service speaks volumes of what a class restaurant should be, regardless of where it is. The lack of the tourist trap image or the bravado of other downtown places is a pleasant break from the drama of our Gringo influence. You can be anonomous here, part of the wonderful quite and calm of Rio Caule. Don't expect to be flattered or put on a pedestal, but rather know that you are very important to the success of this very respectable lunch/dinner house. Yes it is pricey for those on a budget, but worth every peso. The River Cafe is a great place for the special occasion or to watch those who are there for just that. Put your trust in the staff and enjoy! |
SurpriseRated:![]() by al from us Written 3 years ago | We had dinner last Sunday night, which happened to be my wife's birthday and our last night before going home. We overheard the people at the next table say they also were celebrating a birthday. As we got up to go to the lounge areanear the entrance my wife leaned over and said
she overheard the birthday and told them that it was also hers. We thought nothing more of it, ordered a drink and listened to the singer. Then the maitre'd brought over a birthday desert and wished her a Happy Birthday. It seems that one of the very attentative waiters overheard my wife and brought it to the attention of the management. That's way over the top Thank you PS The meal was great, and the music topped off the evening |
Our favorite restaurant for lunch....by Don Hill from USAWritten 3 years ago | This is the tastiest, friendly and openly nature-friendly restaurant in PV, in my opinion. We always have lunch there on our visits and cruise port stops. Sit close to the river for the best of natures entertainment. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, good! - BD |
A tropical setting just off the beachby Jack J. reiff from USAWritten 3 years ago | Our lunch menu was fine. The costs well in line for the foods presented. The services and setting , both do justice to fine dining. |
Three times in 10 days...we like it!!!Rated:![]() by Ron Wright from North Dakota, USA Written 4 years ago | If you're downtown...you have to go here. Breakfast in the gazebo is wonderful. Reserve it for a treat. Maybe you can see the iguana fall out of the tree into the creek like we did! The gals say the mimosas' are to die for. Food always was excellent. Save room for the dessert menu as well. Waiters make you feel like a king....they will even sing you happy birthday if it's your day!! |

We love this place!by William Ennis from USWritten 5 years ago | We have made this a "must stop" for our yearly journeys to PV. The food is excellent, the service exemplory, and the site breathtaking. The owner always greets us and spends a few minutes discussing business during the preceeding year. It's a family-owned business, and the owner's family (the mother!) owns the three restaurants along the river.
Make this place a regular stop. It's a god-send on a hot PV day to take a stroll through the cool trees, sit along the rushing river, and savor some of their luscious drinks. Enjoy. |
Doctor JohnRated:![]() by John from PV Written 5 years ago | Expensive, but worth it. Excellent international menu, lovely riverside ambience. |
